Mother and Children Stabbed Inside Costa Mesa Home

A mother and her two sons, including an 11-year-old, were stabbed Tuesday in Costa Mesa and police had a man in custody.

Officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Wallace Avenue where they found the mother and her children in their home suffering from stab wounds, according to Costa Mesa Police Department Lt. Greg Scott.

All three were rushed to nearby hospitals and were in stable condition, police said.

The 11-year-old was undergoing surgery to determine the extent of his injuries, Scott said.

Officers arrested a man at the scene and one officer sustained a minor injury while arresting the man, Scott said.

No other known suspects are outstanding at this time, Scott said.

Scott did not disclose why someone was in the victims' home, but witnesses heard loud screaming coming from the apartment and a man was chased down before he was taken into custody.
