Pharmacies in Los Angeles are experiencing a shortage of prescription cough syrup and other cold medicines.
Drug stores around the area, including the large chains, were struggling to meet demand in the middle of cold and flu season.
Codeine cough syrups work as a suppressant, and are prescribed to provide relief in persistent cases.
Among those affected is Walgreens in Arleta, which has ran out of codeine cough syrup completely, and will not get a shipment until February.
A CVS in Burbank is running low on cough syrups, flu and cold medicines due to demand, while a Rite Aid in Studio City is also running low on supplies.
