Three in Custody After East Hollywood Robbery, Crash

A car carrying three people wanted in a robbery crashed into four vehicles in East Hollywood Monday morning, trapping one person, sending two people to hospitals and leading to a search that closed several intersections. 

The crash happened at Melrose and Normandie avenues at about 12:30 a.m. after report of a robbery on a sidewalk at Normandie Avenue and Romaine Street about an hour earlier. Three individuals in the car involved in the crash robbed a man who was walking on a sidewalk, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the subjects had a weapon. The victim was injured, but provided police with a description of the subjects' vehicle. 

Officers saw a vehicle matching the description that sped away and crashed at Melrose and Normandie avenues. Two people were taken into custody after the crash and a third person was arrested at about 6 a.m. after a search that closed several intersections.

The vehicles involved in the crash remained at the intersection at 7 a.m.
