A routine health inspection turned up dead roaches and rodents at the March Mountain High School cafeteria in Moreno Valley, which was ordered by the county to stop preparing food until it can pass a re-inspection, which could happen as soon as early next week.
The cafeteria received a score of 89, earning it a B grade, which is considered a failing mark by the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health.
A health inspector logged a major violation against the cafeteria on Friday after finding two dead mice and a number of dead roaches in a food storage room and below a freezer, according to the inspection report.
The inspector also noted finding rodent droppings throughout the facility.
The continuation high school, located in the 24000 block of Dracaea Avenue, will be required to serve only pre-packaged food until it can clear the violation.
A health inspector is scheduled to visit the campus again on Tuesday.
A Moreno Valley Unified School District spokeswoman told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the school's meal schedule will remain unchanged but that food will be prepared at the district's central kitchen and delivered fully wrapped to March Mountain until the county health department lifts its restrictions.

The school has already begun taking steps to correct the violation, the spokeswoman told the newspaper, and plans to deep clean the facility and bring in an exterminator before the re-inspection.
The district did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
This is the first time the school has failed a health inspection in the last three years, county records show.
