Deadly Attack on Bus: Suspect in Court

Robert Johnson is accused of murdering a San Bernardo County bus driver.  He’s scheduled to be arraigned today.

Lawrence Kester (pictured, above) was stabbed several times Friday morning as he drove his bus through a busy intersection in Rialto.

Passengers couldn’t believe what was happening.

"Chaos, everybody was shocked…. I knew he was hurt real bad," said witness Maryama Wells.

Kester lost control of the bus and crashed.  Passengers say that’s when Johnson jumped off the bus, ran through a bank and then into a supermarket.

In the supermarket, Johnson threw himself on the ground and yelled that he stabbed someone, according to police.  Store employees held him until officers arrived.

Kester was married and a father.  .
