Divers At Risk of Being Blown to Sea Rescued in Malibu

Five scuba divers swimming in high winds off Malibu Monday morning were visited by a lifeguard boat that took some to shore, authorities said.

High winds were blowing hard off the coast Monday morning. When the five divers in the group came up to the water's surface in the Nicholas Canyon Beach area, officials were afraid the wind would take them out to sea, according to LA County Fire and LA Lifeguar officials.

No one was in distress when two were pulled out of the water on an LA County Lifeguard boat, an LA Lifeguard spokesman said. The other three made it to shore on their own.
