Driver Being Followed by Police Crashes, Dies in Inglewood

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Johnson said.

A man Inglewood police tried to follow was killed when his car crashed into parked cars and overturned Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers on patrol saw the man driving his Dodge Charger recklessly about 2:10 a.m. on northbound Dalerose Avenue near 111th Street, Inglewood police Lt. Louie Johnson said.

Officers tried to catch up with the Charger but lost sight of it, he said.

They were still looking for the car at about 2:20 a.m. when they learned of a crash at 1230 South Rosewood Ave., Johnson said.

The officers went to that scene and saw the overturned Charger that matched the description of the car they sought, he said. It had struck two or three parked cars and overturned.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Johnson said.

The coroner's office will determine if the man was impaired by alcohol or drugs, he said.
