Although temperatures across Southern California have dropped slightly, the threat of thunderstorms remain, as does a red-flag warning lasting into Thursday evening.
The threat of thunderstorms could bring dry lightning strikes to the Los Angeles and Ventura mountain areas and the Antelope Valley, according to Elita Loresca, NBC4 meteorologist.
The National Weather Service issued a red-flag warning through 9 p.m. in the Ventura mountains and Antelope Valley due to gusty winds.
Winds in the Inland Empire ranged between 50 to 60 miles per hour around noon Thursday. Afternoon showers were spotted in Moreno Valley and the San Bernardino area, along with the Yucaipa and Redlands areas.
Flash-flood watches were issued for Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties through Friday evening.
Chances of thunderstorms should decrease by the weekend, said Loresca.
Parts of the Inland Empire reached triple-digit temperatures on Thursday, with highs expected to remain in the high-90s heading into the weekend.

In metro and inland Orange County, highs will stay in the mid-80s through Saturday with more clouds and less humidity, with a high of 81 expected on Sunday.
