Fast Facial Hair: Mustache Dache

Hoof it near Dodger Stadium and lend some leg power -- and funds -- to Movember.

If you've ever given yourself a month to do something, how are you and where are you about the halfway point?

It depends on your goal. If you're dropping five pounds, you've likely lost two or three. If you're trying to start a good habit, like regular cleaning, you've probably dusted at least part of your home.

And if you're growing a mustache for a fine cause? Well, your upper lip hair may not be fully in after two weeks -- "patchy" or "sprouty" are words your pals might use -- but you know you're well on your way.

Such will be the case with the men of Movember when they head out to join the Mustache Dache. The 5k run at Dodger Stadium has all of the fine philanthropic spirit of the November mustache-growing charity at heart. Which is this: Raise funds and knowledge about men's health.

But those November mustaches'll only be half-grown on Sunday, Nov. 17, or, rather, just over the halfway point. Men must go clean shaven on Nov. 1 and grow, with vigor and furry force, right through Saturday, Nov. 30 (all while garnering donations, positive attention, and spreading the word on the campaign).

It's LA's first Mustache Dache, and it'll be as if the quintessential "man den" arrived at Elysian Park. A beer garden, a mechanical bull with the memorable moniker of Mustache, and the occasional outlandish costume will be part of the big-of-spirit, big-of-facial-hair-growth day.

Women, of course, are welcome to 'stache up, stylishly, or not, and join the run.

And as with everything Movember-related, there shall be a photo booth and many snaps taken. So even if your November 'stache is only halfway there on Nov. 17, brush it out, wax it up, and pose proud. You're doing a kind thing and you're probably having a cracking good time, too, during the doing.
