Man Dies After Shooting Near Azusa

A man died after he was shot in a front yard of a residence located in an unincorporated area of the county outside Azusa, authorities said Thursday.

The shooting occurred at 10:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 17800 block of East Newburgh Street, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Deputies from the San Dimas station were flagged into a residence, where the man was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Marcelo Quintero of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau.

The man was apparently shot while he was standing in his front yard and made it into the house before he collapsed, Quintero said.
