Feathers On, Party People; Mardi Gras Hits LA

FARMERS MARKET: Eddie Baytos & The Nervis Bros. break out the zydeco on the West Patio from 6-8PM. Better come ready to dance, is all we're saying. Oh, and the West Patio? So very close to the Gumbo Pot. Expect a line, but the wait is worth it. Farmers Market, 6333 W. Third Street, Los Angeles. Tuesday, February 24.

AMOEBA RECORDS: Fat Tuesday really kicks off at 4PM at this mega-music-tarium, with a DJ, beadage, and various edibles that may bring to mind a trip to New Orleans. We'll be over in the accordion section... Tuesday, February 24, 4PM. 6400 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood.

MR. T'S BOWL: Pot lucks, we think, are always lucky, but especially on Mardi Gras. Highland Park's own Mr. T's Bowl has been holding 'em every Mardi Gras for over half a decade now, so expect that the conviviality, and tuneage, will be firmly in place. 5621 1/2 Figueroa Street, Los Angeles. Tuesday, February 24.

FULLERTON MEETS THE FRENCH QUARTER: Stilt walkers just say something festive is afoot to us, and the Mardi Gras extravaganza at Bourbon Street in downtown Fullerton fits that party-on bill. People on stilts, jazz, and mimes -- we adore mimes! (and no, we aren't being ironic) -- add to the Fat Tuesday-ish-ness of it all. 110 E. Commonwealth Avenue, Fullerton. Tuesday, February 24, 4-9PM (party for adults starts after 9PM).

TWIN PALMS: Costumes and Cajun food. Those are two things we can enjoy practically every day of the year, but come Mardi Gras, we want the outfits to be over-the-top outlandish and supper to be spicy. The Pasadena restaurant is doing it up with all sorts of Fat Tuesday-like touches. Tuesday, February 24. $29.95 prix fixe (note that this is for food only). 101 W. Green Street, Pasadena.
