Fierce Wind Storm Charges Through Southern California

Wild gusts of wind plucked huge trees from the ground and knocked out power to Hollywood hill people Thursday night as a windstorm roared across the Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange Counties.

There were not reports of injuries.

The National Weather Service reported at 10 p.m. wind advisories were still in effect through midnight in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The Department of Water and Power reported 1500 customers were without power in the Hollywood Hills.   Others Angelinos were powerless in Studio City and South Los Angeles.

A spokesperson with Southern California Edison said there were small spot outages but nothing major in the entire Southern California area.

Nevertheless the fierce winds were felt throughout Southern California tonight especially during the late afternoon hours.  Several trees were felled by wind blasts in Burbank and the Hollywood Hills.
