Fire crews were able to contain a half acre brush fire that erupted in an open area near homes in Monterey Hills, a city fire official said.
The fire was reported at 1:30 p.m. at 5600 N. Via Marisol, just east of the nearby Pasadena 110 Freeway, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Crews battled the fire from the ground and used water dropping helicopters to extinguish the flames.
It was completely contained at 2:40 p.m., the fire department said.
No injuries were immediately reported.
