Twin Geysers Drench the Steep Bluffs Above PCH in Santa Monica

The road was closed near the California Incline after mud started sliding across lanes

Towers of water from two sheared hydrants drenched the Santa Monica Bluffs early Wednesday, closing part of Pacific Coast Highway before dawn.

Both sides of PCH were closed near the California Incline. Twin geysers showered the steep bluffs, causing mud to slide onto the road.

The hydrants were sheared off in a rollover crash near the McClure Tunnel. Details about the crash were not immediately available.

It was not immediately clear when PCH will reopen. The entrance to the 10 Freeway also was closed in the area.
