The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties that will be in effect Monday from noon through the evening.
Forecasters said slow-moving thunderstorms may produce heavy rain and flash flooding in local mountains, as well as the Antelope Valley. There may also be mud and debris flows in steep terrains that have recently been burned by wildfires.
A drying and warming trend is expected for the next few days once the storm cells make their way past the Southern California coast.
Highs on Monday will be in the upper 70s in metro Los Angeles and inland Orange County, and mid 80s in the valleys and Inland Empire. Temperatures will reach the high 80s in the high desert and mid 90s in the low desert. The mountains will be in the mid 60s and the coastal communities in the low 70s.
