Fog, Drizzle to Cover Southern California Saturday

Gray skies are blanketing Southern California thanks to a deep marine layer that is reaching far inland.

Fog, drizzle and some rain have turned the region very damp Saturday morning under what the National Weather Service says is a typical June cloud pattern over the coasts and valleys.

The low cloud cover spans into San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Forecasters say sunshine will begin peeking through in the valleys starting in the early afternoon. Coastal regions won't see clearing until later in the day, if at all.

There's a chance of thunderstorms and showers in some mountain areas.

Los Angeles remains below normal annual rainfall but the moist trend follows a damp May that saw almost an inch of rain fall downtown.
