Foothill Residents Battle Mudflows

Residents of a muddy San Gabriel Mountain foothill area of Sierra Madre were digging out on Thursday night.

The mud began flowing sometime in the early evening as the rain from Thursday night’s storm fell.

There wasn’t any serious damage from the mud. But it did keep residents busy trying to clear their driveways and property of mud that appeared to be about 6 inches deep in some areas.

Just north of the  900 block of Woodland Drive, residents were seen walking through the mud, while others were attempting to make it easier for the water to drain away from their homes.

The National Weather Service says more rain is expected in the area Friday and during the weekend.
