Four Hikers Rescued Near Trabuco Canyon

The four missing hikers rescued Tuesday morning.

Four hikers who went missing above flood-swollen Trabuco Creek, east of Trabuco Canyon were found Tuesday morning, according to a fire captain.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg McKeown confirmed that the four were located this morning. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The hikers were believed missing or stranded in Holy Jim Canyon, northeast of Rancho Santa Margarita in a part of the Cleveland National Forest where some people live in cabins.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Monday, swiftwater-trained firefighters located and rescued five men in their late teens and 20s who were stranded on Trabuco Creek where it flooded across Trabuco Creek Road, McKeown said.
