Meryl Ferraro gained 67 pounds in the nearly 33 weeks that spanned her pregnancy. Along the way, she thought the fertility treatment meant she would give birth to twins, but seven weeks later she uttered the word quintuplets.
On Sept. 26, she gave birth to five babies, each weighing 4 pounds. Collectively their initials – Gabrielle, Riley, Addison, Cooper and Emerson – spell the word “grace.” And the Fullerton family is already breaking records, coming home from the hospital eight days earlier than other quints.
The quintuplets were born at the Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz., with the help of a doctor who specializes in high-risk pregnancies.
On Wednesday, Meryl, her husband John and their 2 1/2-year-old daughter Gianna welcomed the babies into their Fullerton home.
The family will be counting on a village made up of family and friends to make it through the coming months.
“We kind of got a system going with how to take care of them and once we get the volunteers in we should get a flow going,” the happy mother told NBC4.
John Ferraro said that just getting them home from Arizona was a huge first step.

“That was the first goal to get them home healthy and so now we move on to the fun,” he said.
John Ferraro is a car sales manager; his wife is a registered nurse. They will be relying on volunteers to help shuffle through naps, diapers and feedings of their new family members.
