Galaxy Owner Calls Beckham Offer “Ridiculous”

LA Galaxy CEO Tim Leiweke didn't hold back when measuring up AC Milan's latest statements regarding their bid for David Beckham.

"We are not close," Leiweke told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport. "Two weeks ago, Milan made a ridiculous offer, to which I replied, 'No,' in a few seconds.

"With that figure, Galaxy don't even cover the damages deriving from the shortfalls of not selling his shirts. Since then, no-one has made any moves. There are no meetings arranged."

Beckham's short-term loan to the Italian side is set to expire March 9. Various reports peg Milan's offer at $3 million.

Leiweke's statement contrasts with that of Milan's vice president. Adriano Galliani said Thursday that a deal was close.

Leiweke said he lashed out Friday because "Milan have not done anything," according to Gazzetta dello Sport. He said he "read to many inaccurate stories."
