Hiker Visiting From Germany Goes Missing Near Lake Arrowhead

The tourist separated from his hiking party on the Pinnacle Trail

A search was underway in Lake Arrowhead Thursday after a German tourist went missing while on a hike days earlier, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Alyof Krost, 62, was said to be an experienced hiker and hunter who separated from his hiking party while on the Pinnacle Trail in North Lake Arrowhead, sheriff's officials said.

More than 20 search members, air support and search dogs combed the mountains Thursday after a small team searched through the rugged terrain the night before to no avail.

Krost was last seen Tuesday just before 4 p.m. wearing a light blue, long-sleeved shirt with dark blue denim jeans. He was also wearing a pair of lightweight hiking shoes and had no other equipment with him, officials said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabout of Krost is urged to contact the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station at 909-336-0600 or Sheriff's Dispatch at 909-387-8313.
