Claremont Graduate University is celebrating a big payday after scoring a three-year, $2.2 million grant from the Getty Foundation.
The funding is to support The Getty Leadership Institute, which will call the university home in January 2010, it was reported Thursday.
Created in 1979, the institute provides continuing professional development for current and future museum leaders.
Deborah Marrow, director of the Getty Foundation, said "...the GLI has continually sought out new ideas and opportunities, and the move to CGU will allow the GLI to expand and thrive in the context of a very special and distinguished institution of higher education."
Founded in 1925, Claremont Graduate University is an independent institution devoted entirely to graduate study, according to its website.
