"She immediately pulled away and ran to her classroom."

Authorities are searching for a man who tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl from an elementary school in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The attempted abduction took place at Mira Catalina Elementary School at 30511 Lucania Drive and was reported at 12:16 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Vicki Stuckey of the Sheriff's Lomita Station.

The girl, a student at the school, was leaving the bathroom when a man grabbed her right arm, Stuckey said.

"She immediately pulled away and ran to her classroom," Stuckey said.

The suspect was described as white, in his late 20s, about 5 feet 6 and thin, wearing a black shirt and tan shorts, she said.

The man remains at large Friday morning, said Sgt. Anthony Easter of the Lomita Station. Anyone with information on his whereabouts was urged to call the Lomita Station at (310) 539-1661.
