In less than two days, the Gold Line has gone from commuter train to crime vehicle.
Authorities were on the hunt for two robbers who snatched a woman's cell phone and used the new Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension to escape from Little Tokyo, police said.
The suspects boarded a train at the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station following the robbery at Central Avenue and Second Street reported at 8:19 p.m. Monday, police said.
Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies worked together in trying to capture them, authorities said.
The snatch-and-grab was reported at Central Avenue and Second Street, but it was not clear where it occurred, according to an officer at the LAPD's Central Station.
The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension opened to the public Sunday.
