Good Samaritans Rescue 4 From Fiery Tarzana Wreck

A fiery crash led to heroic actions from two Good Samaritans who stepped in to rescue four people in Tarzana Saturday.

Firefighters arrived to a chaotic scene where a man was bleeding on the sidewalk and another woman disoriented in the 18100 block of Hatteras Street just before noon.

Minutes before, Simon Warren, an eyewitness, said he pulled the woman and man from the backseat.

"I dragged her out first and put her out on pavement. I dragged him out by his arms... to get away from the SUV before it blew up," Warren said.

Warren was driving behind the SUV at the time of the crash when he saw the vehicle make a u-turn at a high speed and slam into a concrete wall in front of a church.

Alan Rubio, who lives across the street from the scene of the crash, said he heard a loud bang and rushed to help the driver.

"I pulled him out and he ran back to the car saying there's more people in the front so I went around and got the other girl out--the front passenger," Rubio said.

Police said the driver and three passengers were taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown.

The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to LAPD's Valley Traffic Division, who is investigating the crash.

Police did not comment on the witness accounts of the rescue.
