Gunman Opens Fire on Vehicle Over Windshield Washer Spray

A gunman was sought after he allegedly shot at a family's SUV during an apparent case of road rage over spray from a windshield washer Monday night in Santa Clarita, according to sheriff's station detectives.

The shooting occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Monday night in the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and River Circle in Canyon Country, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Detectives.

A family of four was traveling westbound on Soledad Canyon Road when the gunman, in a gray Honda Civic, pulled alongside their Cadillac Escalade and shot at its tires with a handgun.

The driver of the SUV said that she activated her windshield washer nozzles to wash her windshield, authorities said.

The gunman pulled alongside her vehicle and motioned for her to roll her window down. After she rolled her window down, the gunman yelled at her that she got his new car wet. She apologized and then rolled her window back up, authorities said.

The gunman fired at least two rounds, hitting the woman's SUV, authorities said.

The gunman's car was a gray Honda Civic with paper plates, which then fled westbound on Soledad Canyon Road.
