For those who enjoy a little holiday adventure without the terror, a Riverside neighborhood will bring back an elaborate Halloween light show in spite of its controversial closure in recent years.
The 7th annual Riverside Halloween House Light Show on the 8000 block of Deercreek Drive will display thousands of flashing LED lights coordinating with the popular tune "Ghostbusters."
"The response is really overwhelming. People love the show," said Melanie Betty, who now hosts the show. "The children just have a blast. They dance in the street and they sing along to the music."
Two years ago, the show was closed after Riverside Police received complaints from neighbors about the traffic and noise. But Riverside City Councilman Paul Davis worked to get city approval to continue the show.
Now, the show is being hosted by friends of the original creators who lived nearby. Together, the organizers spent months of planning and securing permits to keep the show going.
"A lot of individuals can't afford to take their children to see an event such as this, so having the ability to come here and see it for free has been very meaningful for them," said Amber Judd, the show's original creator.
Over the years thousands of people have witnessed the light show in person or on YouTube.
This year, people can view the show from Orange Terrace Park across the street. Volunteers are also wanted to help clean up the litter and control traffic.
