Hard L.A., an electronica-focused concert planned for Saturday, has been canceled, according to a statement from organizers.
"HARD LA M.I.A. this Saturday July 17th has been cancelled, but not due to the lack of support or the full approval from the personnel at the City of Los Angeles and California State Parks who have signed off on our comprehensive security plan," said promoters on the event's website.
M.I.A., N.E.R.D, Die Antwoord, Flying Lotus, and others were scheduled to perform.
The cancelation comes just weeks after a 15-year-old girl died from a suspected drug overdose sustained during the Electric Daisy Carnival. Promoter Gary Richards insisted that Hard L.A.'s cancelation was not due to safety concerns.
"We've been working with the city for months and all our security plans were approved. The city was pleased with our plan. The LAPD had asked for some more cops, but most of this was the exact same plan as before. We just thought it would be better to put both events together. This didn't have anything to do with security issues," Richards told the Los Angeles Times.
Ticketholders will be able to attend the upcoming Hard Summer Music Festival at the same venue, the Los Angeles State Historic Park, on Aug. 7. Soulwax, Crystal Castles, Major Lazer, Erol Alkan, Diplo, Digitalism and others are scheduled to perform, according to the event's website.
