Waves up to 15 feet are possible Friday and Saturday as a strong storm system in the central Pacific Ocean continues to generate large swells.
Weather Page: Tidal Forecast, Extended Forecast
The highest waves are expected at west- and northwest-facing beaches. A high surf advisory will remain in effect through Saturday.
The advisory means that high surf might produce rip currents and localized beach erosion. Waves between 6 and 12 feets are likely at LA at Ventura county beaches. Expect 6- to 10-foot waves at Orange County beaches.
Sets of up to 17 feet are possible along some Central Coast beaches.
A 15-degree drop in temperatures will accompany the high surf in some coastal areas.
High wind watches have been posted for the Orange County coast and mountain areas near Riverside, San Bernardino and Santa Ana. The watch -- gusts up to 60 mph are possible -- will be in effect until at least Sunday afternoon.
