The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

Police searched Tuesday morning for the driver of a vehicle that may have been involved in a street race that resulted in a 45-year-old man riding a bicycle being struck and killed in South Los Angeles.

Police responded at 10:25 p.m. Monday to the intersection of 82nd Street and Avalon Boulevard and located the victim, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.

One driver who may have been involved in a street race with another vehicle at the time of the crash stayed at the scene and was taken into custody, suspected of gross vehicular manslaughter, but a second driver who did not strike the bicyclist left the area and was sought by police.

Several vehicles parked on the street were also struck, Lopez said.

The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
