Wilshire Grand's $2 million liquidation sale starts Thursday

The Wilshire Grand Hotel will reopen its doors Thursday for a $2 million liquidation sale -- a chance for bargain hunters to find a deal on the contents of the 60-year-old landmark hotel.

Eager buyers can chose from thousands of items from the Wilshire Grand's 900 guest rooms, five restaurants, offices and fitness center.

Stacks of 1,000 pieces linen fill one room. They're fit for a king or queen.

The commercial kitchen equipment for sale includes 2,000-pound ice machines, a dishwasher, some large sinks and many dishes.

The sale also features silverware, lamps, furniture, televisions, and marble, brass, wood or bronze building fixtures.

Doors open at 9 a.m Thursday. Admission is $5.

The sale continues for several weeks -- Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

The building at Figueroa Street and Wilshire Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles closed to guests in December 2011. It's  slated for demolition this summer.

Current plans call for replacing it with an urban skyscraper.
