Hotel Workers Hunger for Contract

Disney workers who have been holding a hunger strike because of a contract dispute plan to camp at the company's Los Angeles-area headquarters.

Two employees plan to set up outside of the Walt Disney Co. headquarters in Burbank tonight after eight other members of their hotel union conclude a week-long hunger strike outside the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

About 2,150 Disney hotel employees have worked without a contract for two years. The union, Unite Here Local 11, wants employees to continue receiving free health care coverage and Disney wants them to join a company plan that requires paycheck contributions.

Disney and union officials have said they are willing to meet with a federal mediator but no meeting has been scheduled.
