Human Skulls Found in Palmdale

Human remains, including three human skulls, were found in Palmdale Tuesday night.

"It appears that the homeowner at this location had possession of these skulls due in part to religious beliefs," said Detective Kevin Acebedo.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Department responded to a home in the 2500 block of East Avenue Q-4.

The remains, later identified as human skulls, were found at 2:45 p.m.

Huntington Beach Police were serving a search warrant in Palmdale for a robbery.

The robbery occurred some 90 miles away in Huntington Beach.

During the search, investigators came across what appeared to be human remains.

After calling in the coroner and LA County Sheriff's Department and recovered three human skulls inside.

Detectives said the homeowners had told sheriffs the remains were used in some sort of religious practice.

All residents of the home were accounted for and alive.

No one in the home faced charges Tuesday night after the skulls were found.

Residents living at the house told NBC4 they did not wish to take part in an interview, and that the LA County Sheriff's Department was "lying about the skulls."

Detectives said it is legal in some cases to own skulls, like for academic research.

The authorities were investigating the skulls, and whether any laws were broken.
