Car Plows Into Ice Cream Shop in Irvine

Two customers and driver suffered injuries Wednesday night when a car plowed 25 feet into an ice cream shop in Irvine.

The car went through the front of Afters Ice Cream shop at Jamboree Road and Alton Parkway around 9 p.m. in the Diamond Jamboree shopping center.

The woman behind the wheel, 30, was taken to the hospital along with two teen girls. All three were treated and released.

No arrests were made in connection with the crash. An initial investigation indicated the driver accidentally stepped on the throttle pedal instead of the brake pedal, according to authorities.

The crash remained under investigation.
