Los Angeles County will close all of its buildings, including libraries and museums, Monday due to the coronavirus, Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Bargar said. County hospitals and clinics will remain open, and essential services from first responders will continue.
In addition, the LA County Superior Court said it would be "methodically" scaling down non-essential court operations Monday.
Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile said Sunday, "We will continue to provide services for the most vulnerable in our communities and remain open to handle criminal matters subject to statutory deadlines."
Brazile notified LA County judges over the weekend that no new jurors will be summoned for any civil or criminal jury trial for the next 30 days, the county's superior court said in a statement Sunday. In addition, LA County trial judges for any jury trial session "may exercise his or her discretion to either continue the trial or declare a mistrial."
