LA County Firefighter Accused of Sexual Assault Near Elementary School

A Los Angeles County firefighter was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in El Monte, police said.

Authorities said Richard Thomas Loken, 38, allegedly assaulted the woman around 8:15 a.m. after the she dropped off her child at Potrero Elementary School. Loken allegedly attacked the woman not far from the school, according to the El Monte Police Department.

Following the alleged sexual assault, the victim ran back to the school and reported the assault to school officials who called the police. Officers later responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and found Loken around 12:40 p.m. near the school, according to the El Monte Police Department.

Police said they arrested Loken and discovered a loaded handgun, handcuffs, and a taser. Officers also suspect Loken may have been driving under the influence, according to the El Monte Police Department.

Police said they believe there may be more victims and urged anyone with information to contact the El Monte Police Department.
