Lifelong Dodgers Fan to Meet Vin Scully, Throw Out First Pitch

It's time for Dodger baseball, and a dream come true for a fan whose passion was documented in a YouTube video

A 28-year-old Dodgers fan whose YouTube video ends with his idea of blue heaven -- to meet legendary broadcaster Vin Scully and throw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium -- will live out his dream Friday night when Los Angeles continues its run toward the post-season against the San Francisco Giants.

The video documenting Whittier's Nick Ybarra, who has Down syndrome, was posted by a family friend Sept. 4 on YouTube. It shows his room -- a shrine to Dodgers greats with bobbleheads, caps, pictures, pillows and other memorabilia -- and the radio he uses to listen to Scully's broadcasts.

After the video was posted, the Dodgers invited Ybarra to meet Scully and throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday's game and meet the Dodgers' long-time broadcaster.

"It’s probably the most rewarding thing I’ve done," videographer Joshua Guereque told the Whittier Daily News.

The Dodgers and Giants are scheduled to play at 7:10 p.m. LA is 12.5 games up on Arizona for first place in the AL West.
