Los Angeles is near the bottom of Allstate's "America's Best Drivers Report," released Thursday.
LA ranked 182 out of 193 cities. On average, local commuters have one accident every 6.6 years, according to the report.
LA drivers are 50 percent more likely to get involved in a crash than the national average.
The nationwide survey included 43 California cities. Salinas, the city known as the "salad bowl of the world," had the safest drivers in the state. Perhaps, passing all those rows of lettuce fields has a soothing effect on motorists. Salinas ranked 33 out of 193 cities. Salinas drivers averaged one accident every 10 years.
This year's top honor of "America's Safest Driving City" went to Fort Collins, Colo. It's the second year in a row the city ranked No. 1.
"The average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 14 years, which is 28.6 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years," according to the report.
Washington, DC has the most unsafe drivers in the country. DC motorists average one accident about every five years.
