Bryant suffered a fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee, according to the team.
"You hate it for Kobe. He’s worked so hard to get back," coach Mike D'Antoni said Thursday.
Bryant injured the knee during the Lakers' Tuesday win over Memphis, according to the team. An MRI exam revealed Bryant likely played about half the game with the injury, according to ESPN.
Bryant, 35, had just returned Dec. 8 from a torn Achilles suffered late last season.
He has averaged 13.8 points since his return.
