Rams Cut Down Roster to 53 Players

The Los Angles Rams announced their final cuts on Saturday, as the team reached the NFL mandated 53 players by Saturday's deadline

The Los Angeles Rams announced a series of transactions on Saturday designed to move the team to the required 53 players. In all, the team waived 18 players and terminated the contracts of two others. In addition, the Rams also placed offensive linemen Garrett Reynolds and Darrell Williams on injured reserve.

All that adds up to 22 players, which is the difference between where the Rams were on entering the weekend, 75, and where they were when the NFL's 1 p.m. Pacific Time deadline hit.

Head Coach Jeff Fisher expects to address the roster moves on Sunday at a press conference to be held at California Luther University in Thousand Oaks. The coach should also further address his decision to move rookie quarterback Jared Goff, who was drafted no. 1 over all in the 2016 NFL Draft, to third-string.

Case Keenum will be the Rams starter at quarterback, with Sean Mannion penciled in as the backup. Goff would only be the emergency option to start the season.
