Winter weather advisories are in effect for much of Southern California as a storm system slides south and crews close mountain roads in anticipation of ice and snow.

Winter storm warnings are in effect for Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties. The storm is expected to arrive Tuesday evening and intensify early Wednesday.
"The brunt of the storm will arrive tonight and the overnight hours," said NBC4 forecaster Elita Loresca. "The winter weather advisories may play a part in your morning commute tomorrow."
Radar showed rain early Tuesday afternoon in the San Fernando Valley and into the Santa Clarita area. Snow and rain were reported in San Gabriel Mountain communities.
In a La Canada Flintridge, some streets were lined with sandbags and concrete barriers in prepartion for possible debris flows caused by flooding.
Snow might fall at elevations as low as 2,000 feet, said NBC4 forecaster Elita Loresca. The forecast prompted officials to close roads in Angeles National Forest overnight Tuesday.
Road Closures:
- Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway (SR-2)
- Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Vogel Flats
- Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway (SR-2)
The closures will remain in effect until the storm moves out of the region and roads have been inspected, according to county officials.

High wind warnings are in effect for Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
High temperatures will reach the mid-50s in metro LA, valley areas and the coast Tuesday. Highs in the mid-30s are forecast for mountain areas.
