Late Nights in South El Monte

Local Law Enforcement says South El Monte Mayor Blanca Figueroa can stay in City Hall as late as she wants.

Three months ago, Figueroa's four colleagues on the City Council passed a measure outlawing her from working at City Hall past 11 p.m.

But according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune Sheriff's Temple Station Capt. Richard Shaw said deputies would not throw the mayor out of City Hall if called to do so.

If the council members want to punish Figueroa administratively, that's up to them, he said.

Figueroa said she is going to respect the council vote whether or not it's a matter of law.
