Police on Thursday were investigating the death of a woman found stabbed in the bed of her upscale beachside home, about eight miles away from another beach house where a husband and his pregnant wife were slain two weeks ago.
Ventura police Sgt. Jack Richards said authorities have found no direct link with the stabbings, but he called in sheriff's detectives for further investigation.
Coroners officials said 61-year-old Wendy DiRodio died of multiple stab wounds Wednesday in the Ventura Keys area. On May 20 in nearby Faria Beach, Brock and Davina Husted were stabbed by a man who broje into their home while their two children hid in another room.
DiRodio's body was found by her elderly parents in her locked bedroom. Richards wouldn't say if investigators found signs of forced entry.
Police scoured the scene for evidence but have not found any weapon, he said.
No suspects have been named in either case.
