FOUR HURT IN CRUISER-CAR CRASH

The South Gate Police Department said four people were hurt when a civilian car and a police cruiser collided at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Gardendale Street on Sunday night. The California Highway Patrol said the South Gate officer had his lights and siren going when the two vehicles collided shortly before midnight. The officer complained of pain and was treated at an urgent care facility and released. He had been answering a call for back-up at the time of the crash. The three occupants of the civilian car were treated by paramedics and then transferred to Saint Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

HUSBAND, WIFE HOSPITALIZED AFTER LYNWOOD APARTMENT FIRE

The LA County Fire Department said a 50-year-old woman suffered a heart attack at the scene of an apartment fire in Lynwood early Monday, and her husband suffered smoke inhalation. The fire broke out in a unit at a building at 4389 Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 2:20 a.m. About 30 firefighters extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes. There was no immediate word on what sparked the blaze.

ONE KILLED, SIX INJURED in SOUTH LA CRASH

One person was killed and six others were injured at about 1:30 a.m. Monday in a two-car collision in South Los Angeles. It happened at the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Main Street at about 1:30 a.m. The Los Angeles Police Department said a pickup truck apparently ran a red light and struck a car. Fire officials said three of the accident survivors were in critical condition,  one was in serious condition, and two others suffered minor injuries.

A 1-year-old girl was killed and her 5-year-old sister and their mother were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver who struck them in a crosswalk at Bonnie Brae Street and Olympic Boulevard, in the Westlake area, while the mother was pushing the children in a stroller. The Honda that hit them was found abandoned later, near the Staples Center. The suspected driver was arrested several hours later. LONG BEACH GRANDMOTHER STABBED TO DEATH

The search is on for whoever fatally stabbed a 76-year-old grandmother in her home in Long Beach. Leam Sovanasy was found by a family member Saturday afternoon in the 14-hundred block of Peterson Avenue. She had been stabbed multiple times. Sovanasy had been the matriarch of her family of seven children and 25 grandchildren.

TWO TEENS SOUGHT IN OFF-DUTY COP'S SHOOTING

Two teenagers involved in the shooting of an off-duty L-A police officer in front of his home in the East L-A area are at large. Officer Anthony Razo, 49, is assigned to the Hollenbeck Station and has worked in gang units. He's recovering in a hospital this morning. Razo was heading out to play golf Saturday morning when he was confronted by a teenager with a
revolver. During the struggle, Razo's gun fell to the ground and a second teen picked it up and shot him in the shoulder. The assailants were described as Hispanic males with shaved heads.

GROUNDHOG WANTS TO MOVE TO LA

The groundhog sees its shadow and forecasts six more weeks of winter back east. He wants to move to Los Angeles, where it will be sunny on Monday, warm and windy. Wind advisories will be in force until 3 p.m. in the Santa Clarita Valley and mountain areas of Los Angeles County, including the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area. Highs will be in the 70 and low 80s. Air quality will be in the good range throughout the South Coast Air Basin.
