West Los Angeles College football players returned to the locker room after an away game at Pierce College in Woodland Hills to find that their lockers had been burglarized, authorities said.
The burglary was reported shortly after the game ended at about 10 p.m. on Friday, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. It had apparently happened during the second half of the game.
When West Los Angeles players discovered their belongings missing, a fight erupted between the two teams, the sheriff's statement said.
Sheriff's officials said they weren't sure how the burglary occurred - the visiting team's locker room is a bungalow with two doors and barred windows. The doors were locked during the game.
It was unclear what, exactly, was taken. But cell phones, wallets and cash were taken, the statement said.
Sheriff's officials were asking for anyone with information to contact them at 323-669-7555.
