LA Public Libraries Switching to 5-Day Service

Shortened schedule starts July 18

The Los Angeles Public Library is switching to a five-day-a-week service schedule starting Sunday.

The change is the "result of a reduction in library staff and other cuts made to reduce the city's budget deficit," according to a statement from the library.

Starting July 18, the Central Library and all 72 branches will be closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays.

The Central Library will be opened Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Branch locations will be Tuesday and Thursday, 12:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
