Man Accused of Molesting 2 Girls in Stanton

A 33-year-old Anaheim man was behind bars Tuesday on charges of molesting two girls in Stanton.

Diego Armando Bautista was charged Friday with five counts of lewd acts with a child younger than 14 and single counts of attempted lewd act on a child younger than 14 and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, all felonies.

Bautista, who was arrested Saturday and was being held on $1 million bail, made his first court appearance Monday, when his arraignment was rescheduled for Feb. 22.

On Jan. 10, a 13-year-old girl came forward to Orange County sheriff's deputies alleging that Bautista had been molesting her for more than three years in Stanton, according to Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Bautista is a friend of the girl's family, Braun said. As deputies investigated the allegations they heard from an 8-year-old girl who also said the defendant molested her in Stanton, Braun said.
