Man Arrested After Carjacking, Throwing Rocks at Officers

A man attempted to break into a home in Oxnard, then used a flag pole, a metal pipe and large rocks to keep police at bay.

A man was arrested Sunday after trying to break into several homes and leading police on a bizarre foot chase through an Oxnard neighborhood Sunday morning.

Around 9 a.m., a homeowner reported a man trying to break into a home in the 2100 block of San Mateo Place. When officers arrived, they say Enrique Guzman Magallon ran from them and tried to break into another home before picking up a flagpole and swinging at police.

He fled through several other backyards and then tried to carjack a parked car that was running by striking the driver with a bladed tool and trying to drive away.

He drove into another parked car, got out and started throwing rocks at police officers, according to a written statement.

Twice officers tried to use a stun gun to subdue him, but it had no effect.

He was finally taking into custody after also charging officers with a large pipe.

He was arrested for four felony counts of assault on a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking.
