Man Arrested for Alleged DUI After Vehicle Lands Atop Preschool

An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he crashed his vehicle into a Wildomar preschool building while intoxicated and fled the scene, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 23400 block of Bundy Canyon Road, Wildomar Police Sgt. Brian Askins said.

"Witnesses advised the vehicle left the roadway and became airborne, before colliding with an unoccupied building,'' Askins said. "The vehicle came to rest on the roof of the building." 

The driver fled the scene after the crash, he said.

Mateo Rayo, 18, was arrested for DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident after his vehicle went airborne, crashing into an unoccupied preschool.

A Wildomar officer traced the vehicle to Mateo Rayo of Wildomar, who was determined to have been driving under the influence and was arrested for DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident, Askins said.

Rayo was booked into the Southwest Detention Center and was released on $2,500 bail, according to sheriff's inmate records.
