Man in Grave Condition After Hit-and-Run Collision in Fullerton

A pedestrian was in grave condition after he allegedly ran from police and was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Fullerton late Monday night, police said.

The collision was reported around 10 p.m. in the 400 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Police said officers tried to speak with the pedestrian for unknown reasons and the pedestrian ran from police into a street where he was struck by an oncoming car.

The car fled from the scene of the collision, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital where he was in grave condition.

The suspected hit-and-run vehicle was described as a dark colored sedan with major front end damage, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Police shut down Orangethorpe Avenue between Richman Street and Highland Avenue until further notice.
